TOBIAS PERSSON
Programmer & teacher
Currently looking for work

What I do
PROGRAMMING
I am mainly a programmer, with experience in using both Unity and the XNA framework. I have been the lead game programmer in many different projects. During one of these projects, I was the only programmer and had to make a game in 48 hours for the Global Game Jam. I have experience using both C# and always willing to learn more.
TEACHING
GAME DESIGN
I have for the past couple of years worked as a teacher of game development and programming. During this time I have organized many different projects and collaborations. Seeing my students develop their skills and seeing their games take shape is one of my favourite things. I use a relationship-based pedagogical style based on Åsa Hirshs works.
I am also a game designer. Most of the projects I have programmed have also been designed by me. I have designed various game concepts ranging from a simple Pong clone with a variation in its mechanics to a more complex board game like Pantheon Fray. My latest project is a twist on the RTS genre in which I replace the normal camera with a war table, pins and reports from your units.

ABOUT ME
My name is Tobias Persson and welcome to my out of date portfolio. I haven't really kept this updated since I've worked as a teacher for the past couple of years. I am a game developer from Sweden. I do programming for games. As well as programming I am also trying to improve in other aspects such as art and sound design.
While I am mainly a programmer with a good knowledge of C# in Visual Studios and Unity, I also have skills as an artist and sound designer as well.
During my education I have worked on multiple projects including “Stridsvagn” and “Bertil: Alien Hunter” and various Game Jam games. I have also been working with Coder Dojo to teach children how to program. I am also credited as a programming advisor in multiple projects.

MY PROJECTS
Stridsvagn
Picture coming soon
For my last year game project during University, I'm working on a RTS game where the player uses a war table with pins representing various units. The game doesn't use a "normal" RTS camera but instead uses reports from units to give the player the necessary feedback.
Doppelganger
Picture coming soon
Doppelganger is last year game project of my friend Massimiliano Voccia. The game is a VR puzzle game where the player leaves behind clones of themselves that copy the players last pose. Using these clones as well as various objects, the player must solve the puzzle and make their way to the end of the level.
Bertil: Alien Hunter
I was one of the lead programmers for Bertil: Alien Hunter, a wave-based shooter I made in my first year of Swedish gymnasium (similar to UK colleges).

Pantheon Fray
Pantheon Fray is a dice game where we tried to take away the chance present in a normal dice game and replace it with strategy and skill. My role in the project, apart from making the initial idea, was to test the game and give advice to the others. I also spent a long time painting the figurines in the game with the game artist.

Power of Colours
I was the lead programmer for this platform puzzle game. This was my first game project in university. I also made some of the levels of the game. This was also my first completed game using the Unity engine.

Many Game Jam projects
I have taken part in many Game Jams and often I will work as the primary or sole programmer for my group. All my game jam projects have been very different and I'm proud of each one.

Teacher for CoderDojo
Using applications designed to teach children to program,, I taught children ages 7 to 12 how to program and understand the logic of computers.
And many more
